Guanachapi's Restaurant Mexican and Latin Food - Authentic Salvadoran and Mexican Cuisine in Waltham

First time visit....we enjoyed our food, the atmosphere, and the service was very nice. I didn't really like the forced gratuity, but it was less than what I would have tipped...so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Cozy local eatery. The food is authentic and good. Taste is more akin to home cooking than regular restaurant fare. The beef dishes tastes great and I would recommend. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The seafood looked rather enticing. The service is good and quick. Low key, casual atmosphere leads to a relaxed dining experience.

Had early lunch here. Friendly service and a huge selection of South American plates. The meats were varied and well executed; thick cut, salty bacon, tender beaten beef steak, and another super fatty but crisply fried fatty bacon. Supporting the show stopping meats was solid flavored rice, perfect black beans, and the freshest avocado slices I've had in a long time. Large amounts of food the pricing varies from $ to $$, I was delightfully impressed by Guanachapi. The yucca and plantain were much better than I've had in other restos of comparable pricing and authenticity.

Food is ok. not many veg options. staff expect you to know the dishes you want to order. since most of their customers are from Latin America they are not used to explaining the dishes. Great murals on the walls and decorations are also nice. Staff is friendly and service is fast.

Restaurant was clean and the waitress also runs the register. She was very prompt in getting my order when I walked in for my pick-up. Food is authentic, home made, at a fair price, and very good! I tried their Pupusa since I have never had it before and it was good size and filling with my 3 tacos. I recommend this spot for authentic Latin American food at a fair price.

The fried tilapia was the best I had ever had. It was very reasonably priced too.

I don't know what some of these people are complaining about. The place looks clean and maintained. The food looks and tastes like a home-cooked meal and the chicharrones are perfect! It is not a fancy restaurant by any means, but it doesn't pretend to be either. Just a great place to go in and get lunch or dinner without any fuss at a very reasonable price. The service leaves nothing to be desired; the waitress was prompt, smiley and eager to give her recommendations on what to eat. She even checked in a couple times during the meal to make sure everything was as it should. I'm sure I'll return here many times!
